When we leave for the weekends we leave the cats outside with an automatic feeder. Well, we noticed little paw prints on it when we were coming home and decided we had a raccoon. So, we set a trap and caught this one the first weekend...

We did the butterfly and beach excursion...

Here is a picture from the butterfly farm (it is one of the prettiest ones and I didn't want to bore you with the other 30 or so pictures that I took) after the butterfly farm we went to the famous Orient Beach where if you feel like getting in your birthday suite nobodys going to stop you. The picture of the sign above is the designated nude beach and no cameras were allowed past that point but it didn't make a difference there were still naked people on the picture taking side.

We did a little shopping on the way back to the ship. The one we were on is the one to the right and then there was another Royal Caribbean to the left and then a Princess one behind that one (we were so big nobody could park on the same side as us).

This is the end of blogging about our cruise. It was a lot of fun! I would recomended it to anyone especially the Freedom of the Seas!

Our excursion for St.Thomas was to take the boat above over to St. John's (one of the top 10 places to snorkel) and we went snorkeling at one of the coves where we saw lots of coral and fish and sting rays...

Then the boat took us to a beach where we could swim and hang out...and if you can't tell from the pictures the boat had an open bar...It was a lot of fun...would love to go back and visit =) It was GORGEOUS!

Because there is no dock you have to ride this ferry boat "tender" to the island...it was a very interesting ride

The one side of the island was very shallow and you could walk out a pretty good distance...Brandon is holding a starfish we saw and Karyn is holding a conch shell with the snail or whatever you call it still alive inside...apparently they are good/yummy to eat

Freedom of the Seas...

Main pool area...two pools, and three hot tubs...The adult pool...

The Kiddie Pool...It had this pool for the kids that was like a tank and it was a continuous whorl pool (you know when you were little and would walk in one direction to make the water go fast and faster and then you would float) Also, this is one of two hot tubs that hang over the side of the ship

This is the Promenade where they had shops and places to eat and then we had a different towel animal in our room every night...

Hanging out at the back of the boat and by the pool. The pool deck also had a ice cream machine with the vanilla, chocolate, and swirl ice cream all you could eat...very bad for everybody ;)

They have a huge 70's dance party on the promenade and then there was a Once Upon a Time show where they did modern day songs to fairy tales...guess what Pinocchio was...No Strings Attached by NSYNC...

The love and marriage show was a hoot (yeah that's right I said hoot) and then they have a adult game show and Katie and Jon-Jon where the team captains for our group...you did crazy things like...we had to show the host 4 bras not being worn...2 pairs of male slacks not being worn...false teeth...a human pyramid and canoe... a piercing not in your ear...stupid human trick...splits...favorite sex position..and other crazy things...It was TONS of fun...

Cruise Activities...

I climbed the rock wall and made it to the top...(see I am ringing the bell) It was really tall and freaked me out so I only climbed it once because I was shaking when I made it down...

Here I am boogie boarding and Brandon is surfing on the Flowrider...

Also, on the ship with us was the #3 in the world for Flowrider and the #1 woman's U.S. Flowrider (if you want to put one in your own backyard which would be awesome the cheapest one starts just over $700,000) (also that golf ball in the background is where the putt-putt was...nobody on the trip has a picture of us playing...oh well)

Here we are ice skating...and trying to help others learn to ice skate... I mastered the 180 degree turn and for the life of me couldn't figure out how to go backwards...

Here is Brandon playing volleyball on court and in water...the team he was on for the water volleyball competition won (he was on a team with everyone from Scotland a.k.a the Cocky Jocks)...they drain one of the pools so it is low enough to play...it was funny to watch because the ship was rocking and there was a wave and it would go from one side to the other so you couldn't serve till the wave went to the other side...

They had a thing where you donated $10 to the make a wish foundation and you walked a mile (4.5 laps) and got a tee shirt...supporting at sea

And when all else fails you have to have a game of cards (this was in the Sky Bar and it overlooks everything)

Well, my family has been going on a cruise for the past couple of summers and we have never been able to go due to work conflicts but this year we get to go. I am very excited about going on a vacation! We will be going on Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas...

Elevator rides vs Driving rides

So, I don't know if anyone else has ever noticed this but driving in a car is kind of like riding in an elevator...Nobody really wants to be close to anybody in an elevartor especially where you have to make eye contact. It is the same in a car. Have you ever noticed nobody drives side by side and if you have to one car is always a little further ahead than the other one. Also, when you pull up to a red light nobody stops directly next to you they are either a little bit forward or back. Yesterday I tried to pull up exactly the same spot next to another car and that car pulled forward a little just so we were not exaclty equal. If you are next to someone you know that you always have to look over and then you look over and then that person looks over and then you turn your head quickly or fiddle with the radio or something. It is just the same in an elevator. You don't stand exactly next to anybody and you if you do make eye contact you turn away and fiddle with something you are holding or stare off into space. I just thought it was funny how the two things were kind of similar and was just wondering if you thought the same...

Christmas vs. Xmas: What's the Difference?

What's the deal with the term "Xmas?" Is it simply an abbreviation for the holiday with tree and the gifts that we love so much here at Holidash? Or is the term related to an insidious, anti-Christmas plot to stamp out joy, eggnog and gift-giving for all eternity?

There seems to be a lot of confusion out there surrounding the origins of term Xmas. Some of the paranoid Christmas-lovers among us believe it to be a sacrilegious weapon in the so-called "War on Christmas" -- and some bah-humbug types agree. Still, some of us wish they could use "Xmas," because it's shorter (and we're lazy), but avoid it because we're afraid it might be interpreted as anti-Christmas.

The truth is, most of us are a little under-informed here (that's a nice way of saying dumb), and yet still a little bit right. The origin of the word Xmas is simple: For centuries it has been a perfectly acceptable shorthand for the word "Christmas." The "X" in Xmas comes from the Greek letter Chi, which just so happens to be the first letter in the word Χριστός (Christ in Greek).

Since very few of us are Greek scholars these days, many have mistaken the "X" for a mathematical variable -- as in, a way to avoid the religious connotations of the Christmas holiday. Others have taken it a step further, believing that the "X" actually crosses out the term Christ -- as in, "taking the Christ out of Christmas."

While the historical evidence doesn't support the "war on Christmas" interpretation, the pop culture status of Xmas isn't so clear. Since many of the religious groups battling the supposed "secularization of Christmas" have identified the X-word as an anti-Christmas slur, it's largely avoided.

As a result of the misplaced controversy, most style guides recommend that you simply write out the whole word "Christmas" in all but the most informal circumstances.

It's too bad, really. I hate to lose a good abbreviation ... and all over a misunderstanding. Maybe we should start some kind of internet crusade to restore the word Xmas to its pre-1990s glory. Any takers? Merry Xmas, everyone.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with lots of turkey, mash potatoes, sweat potatoes, green bean casserole, rolls, stuffing, cranberry salad (2 kinds), sparkling grape juice and of course pie (just none of the pumpkin type for me). Now that I have loosened my belt because of Thanksgiving I can be prepared for all of those Christmas cookies...yum...cookies! Thanksgiving was spent at my parents house and then we went to the lake for the weekend. No black Friday shopping for me. I did however put up my blue and white lights outside. Picture to come in later post. I did however have to go hunt for a Cricket die cut thing for my mom because they were on sale from $89 down to $25 (I think that price is a little ridiculous). Well, here's to Christmas shopping and cookie making...

I Saw This Last Night...

Okay...so the first think I noticed was..."is that Phillip Fulmer" (in orange)...it was...then I was like is this movie based on that family here in Memphis that took in that kid that went to Briercrest then went on to play football at Ole Miss...and it was. They did a story on that family a little while back here in Memphis and it was a really touching story. I am sure the movie will be the same. Now we just have to listen to all the people here say "Oh, I know him" and "have you seen that movie yet based on that family" but it looks like its going to have a good message and a tear jerker a little different from Hustle and Flow.

The conspiracy theorists came out again Saturday after Alabama nose tackle/aircraft carrier Terrence Cody blocked a second field-goal attempt to secure the Crimson Tide's 12-10 win against Tennessee.
"He took his helmet off!" they screamed. "That's a 15-yard penalty! Tennessee should have gotten another kick!" (Agitated SEC and/or Bama haters typically use a lot of exclamation points.)
I'll explain why that sentiment is wrong in a few paragraphs, but if anything, Tennessee-Alabama should have helped the conspiracy theorists relax. They worry the league, ESPN, CBS, the tri-lateral commission, the United Nations and the second shooter on the grassy knoll are conspiring to match an undefeated Alabama with an undefeated Florida in the SEC championship game. Sure, several of those entities would love such a matchup, but there's no conspiracy.
If Alabama-Tennessee taught us anything, it's that the odds seem against the Crimson Tide and Gators reaching Atlanta without a loss. Florida almost lost to Arkansas last week. As I write this, Mississippi State just tied Florida at 13 in the third quarter.
The Tide and Gators seem to expose more soft underbelly every week. Alabama still must play LSU, Mississippi State and Auburn. If Florida survives Starkville, it still must play Georgia, South Carolina and Florida State. Except for LSU, none of those teams is considered elite, but all of them have enough pure athletes on their roster to put together one lights-out game and ruin the SEC's dream matchup.
So calm down, tinfoil hatters. Odds are, you're going to get your wish.
Now, about that non-call on Cody. Yes, an SEC officiating crew screwed up again. This time, it didn't matter.
Howls erupted after Cody's goal block saved Alabama's bacon. Cody indeed removed his helmet while still in the field of play. That's a big no-no, and it usually merits a 15-yard penalty. But here's where the howlers are wrong. Even if officials had flagged Cody, Tennessee wouldn't have gotten another kick.
Because Alabama blocked and recovered the ball, Alabama had possession. The game can't end on a defensive penalty, but because of the possession change, Alabama wasn't on defense. We'll let SEC spokesman Charles Bloom take it from here.
"The foul for taking helmet off is a live ball foul treated as a dead-ball foul," Bloom wrote in an e-mail Saturday night. "That is, if it happens on a play where time does not expire then the penalty is enforced on the following play. However since the clock ran out on that play, then there is no next play, so there is no penalty to mark off."
Still, only a week after an Arkansas-Florida debacle that got an SEC crew suspended for three weeks, the conference could ill afford for another crew to miss such a clear call. It would have been nice if an official could have flagged Cody. Then referee Matt Austin could have explained to a national television audience why, despite the penalty on Cody, the game was still over.
Instead, the conspiracy theorists got more ammunition. Of course, that may not matter for much longer, because the SEC's elite teams look vulnerable enough to disprove the theories all on their own.
All I can say is it has been a long time since I was screaming in exciment at the tv and working up a sweat watching the football game. What can I say other than if we had made those other 2 missed feild goals then we wouldn't of had to rely on that last feild goal. Which, in its self is amazing we got that far. Most of the game was so s.l.o.w but then we are in touch down range and nothing all we get is a missed feild goal then we kick it off and we run int to the kicker and they automaticlly get the ball back (why cant someone run into our kicker?) Then ther Heisman race runner who has never fumbled the ball fumbles on the first play and we recover the ball (lovin it!) Then we march down the feild and score a touch down (the only one of the game by both teams!) Then we recover the onside kick (amazing) and all we have to do is get the football in field goal range (looking at previous history thats a lot to ask from this team) and we do make it into feild goal range only to have it blocked. Ah, it was horrible but I don't think Bama should be to happy in this win but a win is a win and the orange have held their own against 2 teams ranked number one. Good try boys!

Well, yesterday my boss had his car detailed in the parking lot of our little shopping center and the detailer was waiting in the office to talk to my boss and his cell phone rang...rang very loud (I guess when he is vacuming and what not he wants to be able to hear it)...and guess what this early 30 something male had as his ring tone? I will give you a hint it falls right in line with my last blog...guessed it yet...yep...Miley Cyrus and her Party In The U.S.A...I wanted to burst out laughing! I don't know if it was the fact that he was a male in his early 30's or the fact that I just blogged about liking that song but it was too funny to hear Miley blaring from his cell phone. Nothing To Exciting To Blog About...(Only Read If You Need Help Falling Asleep ;) )

It has been a while since I last blogged but really nothing to exciting to blog about. I don't even know what I last blogged about.
First:
So, my VOLS lost last weekend to Auburn. The game was so bad I seriously almost shed a tear(only 1 or was it 2 first downs in the first half...that's pitiful). Which, the game this weekend against Georgia was a completely different game (we won 45 to 19). One of our friends thought that our quarterback's body was secretly taken over because it was not the same quarterback out there. I mean come on the first time in his history he threw 20 for 27 passes and 4 touchdown passes! This was not the same quarterback. I wonder if we can keep the "new" guy around for a little while? Considering we play Alabama in 2 weeks (I might be putting my head in my hands again).
Second:
Our plumbing went out/clogged the whole house completely. We couldn't use anything that required to drain. Luckily, it was fixed the next day but this morning when I got up it was backing up again, so GROSS! The first time the plumber came he cleaned out a pipe with the machine and bunch of little tree roots came out. So, if you have a house with trees eventually those itty bitty roots start to grow into your pipes in your yard.
Third:
My grandparents came into town and I got to spend some time with them. =)
Fourth:
On Saturday FedEx introduced its new 777 in to the family. So, Brandon and I headed out to the airport with his parents to watch the ginormous plane do a fly by and I also got to go inside the plane that Brandon's dad flies. I never realized how small airplane cockpits are. I mean they are tiny and they have buttons every where! I think you could accidentally push a button just trying to get into the seat. I mean if you pass gas in there your are going to know about it and there is no where to escape. Also, those windshields are not as big as they look from the outside. They are also very tiny. The pilot seats are comfortable looking but if you have to ride jump seat those things did not look comfortable at all (I mean they fold out of the wall but they do recline (a little). Plus, you would think they would have a mini-fridge or something but nope. In this one there was a blue Colman cooler but I mean I guess that's why they get paid the big bucks. Well, here is the new big boy in town the 777 and look at it:

Yes, that's right it cannot land on just 8 wheels it has to have 12!?!
The new 777 has real seats to jump seat in (I guess that is good because the plane will be doing over 12 hour trips because it can only land in very few airports).

Other than it being a cold and rainy week it wasn't to bad. Now to brace for more rain this week. What is that song? Oh yeah Rain Rain Go Away Come Again Some Other Day. I need sunshine because I think I am going to go crazy. I wonder if this is how they feel in Alaska when they have their dark period?

Because of the rain and sinus issues there has been a lot of nap taking in the Buehler house hold. So, where do you take your naps? Ferris opts for the high dresser because little Lucy can't get him and bother him way up there and he can keep an eye out on her (sometimes they lay together like right now they are on the bed together until one of them decides its time to play)And little Lucy has discovered that sinks make the best napping spot, weird I know (first she attacks the drain then she lays down).

I have been absent for a little bit but you haven't missed much. My Vols lost on Sat. to UCLA again. Blah, and we had a chance to win and we threw it away (it was just ugly). Now this Sat. we play our first in conference game to U of FL and I think they are a 24 point favorite (ugh). Pre started back up at church and I am helping my mom teach 6th grade again. I am teaching by my self for 2 Sundays because my mom, brother and sister went on a cruise. My dad stayed at home this week because he had to close on a lake house on Thur. Wed. my sinus decided to act up with avengence and I have been doped up on medicine ever since. Also, we have had rain ever day this week and they are not calling for sunshine until Wed. therefore, the mode of transportation around here is by boat. And I really need to clean my house but who really wants to do that? So, as you can see nothing to exciting on the home front...

Football started to day and I am so excited! Ah! Love my VOLS! Love Football! Love the SEC! Even though we have tough road ahead of us beginning the season unranked and with a new football head coach and staff. It should hopefully still make for a good year. Today we played Western Kentucky and we won 63 to 7 (the first quarter was very nerve racking but it looked a whole lot better in the last 3 quarters (guess we are still a second half team) but our defense still rocks.

I did this last weekend when Brandon and I installed our new front door (well, since I hurt my toe at the beginning of the installation Brandon's parents came to the rescue and helped finish installing it). I did this to my toe by dropping the old solid wood door on my big toe. I hope it heals before it gets to cold because I can't wear shoes that are not opened toed. So, we found out that everything is okay with her and she got her shots and spayed now all we need is a name. Poor thing is just kitty for now. I can't decide if she should have a human name or a funky/normal animal name. She is gray, black and white and we thought we might name her Smokey (call her mokey for short (even though it really doesn't shorten it by that much it is just more fun to say) or there is Gracie, Lola, Isabella, Charlie and the list goes on and on. Hopefully, by the weekend she will have a name. She and Ferris already like to ruff house together.

It was a beautiful weekend here in Memphis. It actually had a little chill in the early a.m hours. So, to enjoy the beautiful weather we ate outside on our screen porch all weekend and had family over for a cook out and a little smore action using our fire pit for the first time. On Sunday we headed out to Shelby Farms (where I think everybody else headed too) and Brandon was able to fly his plane. He was very excited because the last time he tried to fly his plane it was in the park by our house which is not to big and borders two major roads and not to mention a little league practice on the baseball field (the baseball out field makes up for a little over half of the open area in which Brandon had room to fly). Needless to say that he crashed his plane and had to repair its tail. This time he came out only loosing a rubber band and completing his first loop. It was very exciting stuff. I was looking for a picture to put up for throw back thursday and I found this one of me, my brother, my sister and my mom and it just made me laugh so hard. I am so glad that we all look ALOT different from this picture now. Its amazing what contacts, eye surgery, braces, and hair color will do. Money well spent mom and dad! This is when we went down to Coco Beach and visited the space center at Cape Canaveral.

I Finished What The Fish Started

Today I called the dermatologist to schedule a time to come in and remove the mole the fish tried to take with it on Friday. The first available appointment time was not until August 4th. I was like um... and I then explained my story to the lovely lady who said that if she got any cancellations in the next few days would call me and fit me in. Just my luck there was one today and I had that mole removed and one more (I mean why not I already paid the co-pay). Also, the nurse that helped me said "Oh, your the one that the fish tried to eat your mole". Apparently though rare in my circle of family and friends fish do bite on moles. So, I guess my warning to you is beware of what you swim with. Oh, and while we were at the lake because the fish were biting everyone we fished for a couple of hours and then Brandon and James cleaned and cooked them up. Revenge is so sweet or in this case pan seared with a little lemon juice. =)

Thursday night we drove to Arkansas to visit the Bell family at their lake house (hence, why there was no throw back Thursday picture). The lake was every bit of beautiful that everyone said it would be. So, clear that people go scuba diving there and you can see your feet and the fish swimming around you, yikes. Speaking of fish, those little Brim/sunshine fish decided that they were not happy with the food supply of the lake and decided that my bathing suite straps were calling to them and one bit me and almost took off my mole. Gross, I know. Now I have to make an appointment to go to the dermatologist and tell him that I need a mole removed because a fish already tried to. Fun times. Here are a few pictures:

I could not believe how rocky it was there but it was just beautiful. On Saturday we rode in the boat to through the Narrows. I wish I had brought my camera but I forgot. Just want to say thank you to the Bell's for the wonderful time and hope to do it again soon.

So, the weekend was spent at the lake and my camera spent the weekend in my bag. I know sad right? I did not take any pictures from this weekend but hopefully, my cousins will post some on their facebook page and I can copy it over to my blog. The lake was nice Friday and Saturday. We spent the day tubing and riding on the jet ski. The water was really ruff so, no skiing for me. Brandon however went skiing at what I like to call "the butt crack of dawn" which, was the only time the water was calm. Saturday we went up to the damn to watch the fireworks but got there just as they were starting and it also began to rain so, we watched those from the car. Then when we got back to the house we had a note from our friends down the water the Clays who invited us down to their firework show at 11. Let me just tell you I don't think that I have ever been that close to fireworks before. They were really pretty but I started the evening at one spot and noticed I had slowly back up because a couple of them were a little too close. Many thanks to the Clays and Hunter for putting on a great fireworks show. Sunday the neighbors David and Debbie took Brandon out to try surfing which he has been wanting to try for some time and he got up on the first try and had a really nice wave to ride. I know that this would be more enjoyable to read along with pictures but you are just going to have to live with these pictures:
